Originally
a franchise operation known as Big Red Q Quickprint, this
business was founded on quick service to the community. We
started off with only one press and limited bindery facilities
as all the franchise centers started. We specialized in short
run printing while you wait jobs, with the rare request for
a spot color.
Through the years, the advent of high speed copy machines
has taken much of the quick black and white jobs away from
the press. As the cost for copy machines declined we saw over
the next ten years a steady decline in copy jobs as more and
more offices could afford their own copy machines.
The trend began to move to digital as the technology evolved,
and we have evolved along with it.
At present we run three presses, two of which are two color
type and one a single color press. As well as two digital
copy machines, one of which for full color.
We
also expanded our pre-press department, from the addition
of a dark room some 15 years ago to the modern digital linographic
and laser wide format proofing.
I’m also proud of our growth in bindery capabilities
since the 80’s, with two collators and booklet maker
those time consuming hand gathering jobs are a thing of the
past. Those early days of taking two or three days to complete
a booklet job by hand now take only a few hours. Three types
of folding machines also mean little wait for jobs to be completed.
